Trim is where a room looks finished — or not
Trim and molding installation is detail work. Baseboard covers the gap where the wall meets the floor; casing frames doors and windows; crown finishes the top of the wall. When the joints are tight and the caulk lines are clean, nobody notices the trim — which is the point.
Walls and floors are never perfectly straight or square, so the skill is in fitting: coping inside corners instead of mitering them, scribing baseboard to a wavy floor, and adjusting miters to the real angle of the corner rather than a nominal 45 degrees.
Trim work we take on
- Baseboard installation after new flooring
- Damaged or missing baseboard sections replaced
- Door and window casing
- Crown molding in single rooms
- Shoe molding and quarter round
- Inside corners coped for tight joints
- Nail holes filled, joints caulked
- Painted to match
Why trim joints open up
Mitered inside corners open as the wood shrinks in winter, leaving a dark line in the corner. Coped joints — where one piece is cut to the profile of the other — stay closed. Outside miters open when they are not glued; we glue and pin them.
Gaps along the bottom of baseboard usually mean the floor dips. Shoe molding or scribing the baseboard to the floor closes it neatly without heavy caulk lines.
After a new floor
New floors are often thicker or thinner than old ones, so the existing baseboard sits wrong. We reset or replace it so it sits tight to the new surface.
Crown molding
Crown goes on at an angle and meets ceilings that are rarely flat. Long runs are fixed to framing and joints are spliced over studs.
How long does trim installation take?
Baseboard in an average room is usually a few hours plus painting. Crown molding takes longer because of the angles and ceiling irregularities. A whole floor of trim is priced from a sketch or photos of each room.
How it works
Measured before we start
1. Send photos
Two or three photos of the wall, door or floor and a line about what you want done. A tape measure in the shot helps.
2. Get the price
Pavlo texts you a clear price and the earliest date he can come. If something can only be judged in person, he says so up front.
3. Fixed and cleaned up
Neat work at the agreed time, the room left swept. Pay by cash, check or Zelle when it is done.
