Patches you cannot find once they are painted
Drywall repair and patching is the job FixInch does most, and most of our Thumbtack reviews are about it. A doorknob goes through the wall, a picture anchor rips out, a crack keeps opening over the doorway — each one gets the same treatment: cut back to sound board, patch, tape, three thin coats, sand flat, match the texture.
The finish is what you pay for. Filler alone shrinks and shows; a properly feathered patch, primed before paint, disappears into the wall.
What's included
- Drywall repair and patching for holes from nail-size to fist-size
- Cracks at door and window corners taped and finished
- Nail and screw pops reset and covered
- Dented outside corners rebuilt with new bead
- Small water spots cut out once dry
- Texture matched on walls
- Spot priming before paint
- Picture hangers and wall items put back
Why walls crack and dent
Impact is the obvious cause: doors without stops, furniture on moving day, kids. Less obvious is movement. Framing lumber shrinks as it dries and houses settle, which concentrates stress at the corners of doors and windows — exactly where diagonal cracks appear. Screws set too shallow pop through the paper as the studs move.
Painting over a crack hides it for a season. Taping it — bridging it with paper or mesh and compound — is what keeps it closed.
Holes bigger than your hand
Large holes get a new piece of drywall screwed to backing, then taped like a seam. Patches of a sheet or more are covered under Drywall Installation.
After a small leak
Once the leak is fixed and the board is dry and firm, stains are sealed and repaired. Soft or crumbling board is cut out and replaced.
How long does a drywall patch take?
A few small holes can be patched and primed in one visit. Larger patches need two or three coats with drying time between, usually meaning a short second visit for final sanding and texture. You know the schedule before we start.
How it works
Measured before we start
1. Send photos
Two or three photos of the wall, door or floor and a line about what you want done. A tape measure in the shot helps.
2. Get the price
Pavlo texts you a clear price and the earliest date he can come. If something can only be judged in person, he says so up front.
3. Fixed and cleaned up
Neat work at the agreed time, the room left swept. Pay by cash, check or Zelle when it is done.

FAQ
Common questions
Can you match my texture?
Smooth, orange-peel and knockdown walls can be matched. Send a close photo of the wall next to the damage.
Will the patch show through paint?
Not when it is feathered wide and primed. We prime every patch before paint.
How much dust is there?
Sanding makes fine dust; floors and furniture nearby are covered and the area cleaned when we finish.
