Entry doors that seal, lock and look right
Exterior door installation has to do more than an interior one: keep out drafts and rain, hold a deadbolt firmly, and survive New Jersey winters without warping in its frame. A gap of an eighth of an inch at the weatherstrip is the difference between a quiet hallway and a cold one.
We replace front entry doors, back and side doors, and storm doors. The old unit comes out, the sill and opening are checked for rot and level, and the new door is set, shimmed, insulated and sealed before the trim goes back on. [ASK PAVLO] Whether he takes on sliding patio doors and full frame replacement.
What's included
- Old door and frame removed
- Sill and rough opening checked for rot and level
- Exterior door installation: unit set plumb, shimmed at hinges and lock
- Low-expansion foam and flashing tape around the frame
- Weatherstrip and door sweep adjusted for an even seal
- Deadbolt and handle set installed, strike reinforced
- Interior casing and exterior trim refitted
- Storm doors hung on the existing opening
Why entry doors leak air and stop locking
Exterior doors move more than interior ones. Sun heats one face while the other stays cool, the threshold takes water every storm, and the hinge side carries a heavy slab. Over time the frame shifts, the weatherstrip stops meeting the door, and the deadbolt has to be pushed to catch.
Ignored, the gaps let in water as well as air. Water reaching the sill or the subfloor below it rots the wood — a far bigger repair than the door itself. A new unit installed with proper flashing stops that cycle.
Fiberglass, steel or wood
Fiberglass resists dents and does not swell; steel is strong and economical but can dent; wood looks classic but needs regular finishing. We can talk through the options from photos of your entry.
Storm doors
A storm door protects the main door from weather. It mounts to the existing brick mould, so the opening must be square — we check that first.
How long does an entry door replacement take?
Most single entry doors are replaced in one day, so the house is closed up the same evening. Doors with sidelights, rotten sills or non-standard openings take longer and are priced from photos of the frame and threshold.
How it works
Measured before we start
1. Send photos
Two or three photos of the wall, door or floor and a line about what you want done. A tape measure in the shot helps.
2. Get the price
Pavlo texts you a clear price and the earliest date he can come. If something can only be judged in person, he says so up front.
3. Fixed and cleaned up
Neat work at the agreed time, the room left swept. Pay by cash, check or Zelle when it is done.

FAQ
Common questions
Will my house be open overnight?
No. The old door stays in until the new one is ready to set, and the opening is closed and locked the same day.
Can you re-key the new lock to my other doors?
[ASK PAVLO]
What should I photograph?
The door from outside and inside, the threshold, the hinge side edge, and any visible rot at the bottom of the frame.
