    Most door problems are fixable

Door repair is often cheaper and faster than people expect. A door that drags on the floor, rubs at the top corner or swings open on its own is rarely broken; it has moved out of adjustment in its frame. Finding why is the real job.

We tighten and reset hinges, move strike plates, plane edges that swell in summer, fix split jambs around the lock, and replace worn hardware. Interior and exterior doors, closet doors that jump their track, and locks that no longer turn smoothly are all covered here.

    Door repairs we handle

Why a door stops closing properly

Three things move doors out of adjustment: hinges, humidity and the house itself. The top hinge carries most of a door’s weight, and short screws in a soft jamb slowly pull out. Wood swells in humid weather and shrinks in winter heat. And framing settles, which tips the whole opening a little out of square.

The symptom tells you where to look. Rubbing at the top latch-side corner usually means a loose top hinge. A latch that hits above or below the strike points to a sag or a shifted frame. A door that drifts open means the hinges are no longer in a vertical line.

    Loose hinges and screws

Replacing one short screw in the top hinge with a long one that reaches the stud often fixes a sagging door in minutes.

When repair is not worth it

A slab that is split, delaminated or badly warped is better replaced. We will say so plainly and quote both options.

What happens if you leave a sticking door?

Forcing a binding door wears the hinges and the paint, and a loose hinge eventually tears its screw holes so badly that they need to be filled and re-drilled. Exterior doors that no longer seal let in water at the sill. Small adjustments now avoid a bigger repair later.

    How it works

    Measured before we start

    1. Send photos

Two or three photos of the wall, door or floor and a line about what you want done. A tape measure in the shot helps.

    2. Get the price

Pavlo texts you a clear price and the earliest date he can come. If something can only be judged in person, he says so up front.

    3. Fixed and cleaned up

Neat work at the agreed time, the room left swept. Pay by cash, check or Zelle when it is done.
